2012 Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker - Sannie Overly

Sannie Overly - Keynote Speaker

Representative Sannie Overly,a native of Paris, Kentucky, has served in the Kentucky General Assembly since 2008.  Sannie serves on the A&R Committee, where she chairs the subcommittee on Transportation, as well as the Banking and Insurance, Agriculture and State Government Committees.

A self-motivated team player who exhibited outstanding qualities from the beginning of her service, House Leadership demonstrated its trust in Sannie by appointing her Chair of the demanding Budget Review Subcommittee on Transportation.  Here, her knowledge and level approach as both a former engineer with the Kentucky Department of Transportation and currently as an attorney can be utilized to develop a comprehensive road plan and budget for the Commonwealth.  Despite a weakened economy, partisan challenges, and budget constraints, Representative Overly led the charge and achieved a reasonable, balanced road plan for the coming term.

House District and the entire Commonwealth is evidenced by the history of her community involvement.  She has served as Trustee and Chairman of the Bourbon County Community Hospital Board, President of the Bourbon County Bar Association, President of Historic Paris-Bourbon County Inc., and has been a member of various organizations such as the Jemimah Johnson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Bluegrass Conservancy, the Bourbon County Homemakers, and the Paris-Bourbon County Chamber of Commerce, to name a few.

Sannie is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, and the University of Louisville, where she completed her Juris Doctorate and graduated Cum Laude.  She was admitted to the Kentucky Bar Association in 2003.  Currently, she is a partner in the law firm of Overly and Johnson, located in Paris, Kentucky.  Sannie is married to Mike Kalinyak; they have two beautiful daughters.
